The first local funding announcement of the year is here, with Sydney fintech startup CapitalPitch announcing that it has closed a $600,000 seed round led by Aaron Bertinetti and Trevor Folsom, director of Elevation Capital.
BigCommerce cofounder Mitchell Harper goes all in on new platform PeopleSpark, leading USD$1 million seed round
Today PeopleSpark announced the closing of a US$1M seed funding round led by founder Mitchell Harper that will be used to build the platform, accelerate customer acquisition and help grow the team. Given that the round was led by the founder, the wording of today’s announcement has raised a few eyebrows, but it shows that Harper is all in on the platform.
Melbourne FinTech startup Clover, an automated investment advice platform, has announced the raising of a seed funding round by a number of investors including superannuation fund Equipsuper. Though the startup wasn’t willing to reveal the exact amount, Startup Daily was able to confirm that Clover raised over $1 million.
CargoHound launches its platform into the growing freight technology space with $800,000 in seed funding
Over the last two years the freight industry has been a popular space to launch new technology solutions. Some more notable examples to come out of Australia include Loadmax, Temando, Zoom2u, and more recently Telstra backed FreightExchange.
Although there were varying opinions on the open-sourced legal document templates created by Australian VCs, most lawyers agreed that the terms presented in the templates are more appealing to investors than startup founders, and that startup founders should seek legal advice and negotiate important amendments.
Over the last few months Benjamin Chong, Ari Klinger and Garry Visontay have been meeting with members of the Sydney startup community to talk about the new Sydney Seed Fund. Today it has been announced they are now officially in business, with investors having put in already $1.9 million into the fund. The trio are still open for more investment for a little while longer.
