Airwallex scoops the pool at The Finnies fintech awards

Airwallex took out four major awards at the 2020 Finnies, including the top prize, Fintech Organisation of the Year and the People’s Choice Award.

The company also received the Excellence in Payments award, while the Melbourne-based global unicorn’s co-founder and president, Lucy Liu, was named Emerging Fintech Leader of the Year.

Airwallex and Athena Home Loans, Brighte and Wisr are among the biggest winners of the virtual Finnie Awards.

Athena Home Loans and Brighte took out two awards each among the 19 categories.

Athena received the Excellence in Consumer Lending and was also named Emerging FinTech Organisation of The Year for the second time.

Brighte’s Katherine McConnell was named female fintech leader of the year and the company also took out the award for Best Workplace Diversity.

Wisr CEO Anthony Nantes was named Outstanding FinTech Leader of the Year.

Presented by Fintech Australia, the awards were announced virtually in 2020 from the organisation’s Melbourne HQ.

FinTech Australia CEO Rebecca Schot-Guppy said the calibre of entries this year was outstanding.”

Airwallex president Lucy Liu said she was thrilled to be recognised among so many emerging leaders.
