One of the biggest challenges restaurateur Peter Petroulas faced over nearly two decades of running top restaurants at Sydney’s GPO, including Intermezzo, Postales and Prime, was organising to bookings to maximise the use of the dining spaces.

Five years ago he decided to develop his own solution to the problem, knowing that existing booking platforms were costing him customers who couldn’t get a table, as well as money.

The result is ResButler, the world’s first and only table management system to dynamically manage booking allocations to maximise the available space.

Petroulas likens ResButler to “the beginning of a revolution that can only be equated to Steve Job’s introduction of the iPhone as a competitor to the cell phones of Nokia and Motorola”.

He’s been applying for global payments for the technology he developed and when covid-19 hit and the GPO restaurants were forced to close, Petroulas turned his attention to running his tech startup full time, because in the era of social distancing, it offers an effective solution to restaurateurs trying to make the most of the space they have, while keeping diners safe.

It does more than a dozen things existing booking platforms can’t to help restaurateurs manage their margins and is cheaper per customer in the process. You can learn more about ResButler here

When Peter Petroulas spoke to Startup Daily TV on ausbiz about his tech platform, he also surprised co-host and Startup Daily editor Simon Thomsen, a former restaurant critic, by revealing his time running the GPO had drawn to an end after 18 years.
