Co-working and tech space Tank Stream Labs has forged a partnership with machine learning startup Verge Labs to launch Sydney’s first AI hub.

Verge Labs is focused on turning research into customised software applications for business.

It was co-founded by Anthony Tockar, who said the startup works with companies to develop user-friendly, customised AI solutions.

“The last few years has seen a real push from businesses wanting to make use of data and AI, and a vibrant community
has grown out of this,” he said.

“We came together with Tank Stream Labs as we want to create a home for that community – an environment for AI businesses and professionals to network, create opportunities, have exposure to cutting edge research and access to experts”.

The announcement comes during a busy week for Tank Stream Labs, which is hosting the first cohort of 70-plus aspiring startup founders in Antler Australia’s global accelerator program.

Tank Stream Labs CEO Brad Delamare said they’d doubled the size of the operation at the Sydney Startup hub to deal with all the activity, including last year’s launch of  Sydney’s first Blockchain hub in partnership with Prismatik.

“There has been continued growth in the number of companies joining our community, and with the addition of Antler, we are excited to invest in the future of the start up sector by creating more space for all of these businesses to grow,” he said.

“After launching our Blockchain hub, we quickly created a community of startups, businesses and individuals working in the Blockchain sector.

“Our aim is to create a similar environment for AI companies, but we expect to see more corporates wanting to become involved.”

Australian-based Tank Stream Labs companies have so far raised more than $400 million in funding. It now has more than 200 start up operations, and 650 members.

In 2017, Tank Steam Labs was named Australia’s Best Co-Working Space in Australia in the Fintech Australia Finnies.
