A senior marketing exec from Canva and Eucalyptus has struck out on his own to launch a media strategy startup.
Matt Rossi left his role as head of growth at Eucalyptus to found Oodle, saying it will offer media strategy and buying for growth-oriented brands, with a focus on helping internal marketing teams build conviction to scale into brand channels.
Rossi spent the last 7 years building internal creative and media functions at leading startups such as Canva, Eucalyptus and Koala.
At Eucalyptus, he helped build the brands Pilot and Juniper as the telehealth startup amassed more than 500,000 patients.
Oodle is launching with three key startup clients: accounting fintech Hnry, cleaning brand Koh and kids banking app Spriggy.
Rossi said that channel expansion and brand storytelling have been central to the success of Eucalyptus and that’s what Oodle will offer at scale for its clients.
“Brand advertising shouldn’t be so opaque. It’s arguably the single biggest lever to grow brands, but it’s also the lever with the most barriers in front of it, from inconsistent pricing to unreliable measurement and bespoke creative,” he said.
“Oodle is offering something different. We’re demystifying the industry and empowering brands to scale into brand channels with confidence. We believe effective brand media drives incremental conversions whilst improving brand metrics in the process. We care about media that works, and we know how to put plans together that drive growth.”
Hnry cofounder and CEO James Fuller said he liked the openness Rossi brought to marketing.
“Matt’s no-fluff, results-oriented approach is a refreshing change in an industry known for doing deals and moving on,” he said.
“We know we’re in safe hands as we continue to scale Hnry’s increasingly sophisticated channel mix with Oodle.
Koh CEO Charli Walters said Rossi has already been invaluable to Koh’s successful move into brand channels.
“We’re excited for Matt going all in on Oodle and helping more brands diversify their marketing mix,” he said.
“We’re thrilled to be able to continue that arrangement more formally with Oodle.”
