I think we sometimes celebrate things way to early in the startup space. Sure achievements and milestones should be acknowledged, the small wins along the way are very important. What puzzles me is when people equate getting an article in the media with the idea that doing that is going to bring about a sustainable customer base for their business. Sorry startups, it’s not. Selling = Sales and Media = Perception.
Look I think we have all been there, I know I certainly have. But we need to stop being such jealous little cows in the business space, and this is directed at everyone from startups to small businesses that have been running for decades. I am talking about reality vs perception, as quite often it is not the best quality product, service or offering on the market that will actually get the media attention, the money and the customers.
