Digital transformation is enabling Australians to skill up and supercharge their careers

It’s no secret Australia is facing a skills gap with the digital transformation of the economy, but rather than be cause for alarm, this transformation will provide endless opportunities for Australians to skill up and supercharge their careers.

For example, a recent report by Deloitte Access Economics forecast that the Australian economy will require another 100,000 information and communications technology (ICT) workers by 2023 in order to just make do; to become a global leader in the digital economy, however, will require a further 100,000.

Meanwhile, greater access to technology is making it easier than ever for Aussies to launch their own side hustle to a global market. So with everyone from the most innovative startups to the country’s biggest corporates looking for workers, the war for talent is set to get fierce – and it has never been easier for Aussies to skill up.

With a survey of more than 500 Australians aged between 18 and 45 conducted by GfK Australia finding that more than 50 percent are looking to complete a short, modular learning course in the near future, the number of learning programs available is skyrocketing.

However, it can be difficult to find the right one: nearly half the Aussies surveyed stated they’re not sure how they can gain a new or relevant skill to further their careers.

Samsung is here to help, inspiring Australians to take the leap with Days of Note, a month-long series of tailored workshops and events championing productivity, innovation, and creativity to help people be inspired, get empowered, and take the leap.

The series is based on the idea of the day of note: a day pivotal to the lives of many successful entrepreneurs, when they were inspired to follow their passions and get closer to their dreams.

Running in partnership with General Assembly from the Days of Note Hub, a specially-designed dynamic and creative space at WeWork in Sydney’s Pyrmont, the bespoke workshops will cover ‘Success in the digital age’, ‘Design thinking 101’, ‘From problem to prototype’, ‘How to win at UX’, ‘Content marketing workout’, and ‘Introduction to coding’.

The workshops will take participants through everything from how to understand and connect with customers to how to conduct customer experiments with a prototype, how to create engaging marketing content, how to build a responsive web page, and more.

These are the skills of the future: four in five people surveyed by GfK Australia agreed that those who can master technology will be best placed to succeed in the future.

Danielle Palmer, marketing director at Samsung Electronics Australia, said Days of Note will empower the next generation of Australian startups to defy their own barriers to progress to do what they can’t.

“By working closely with our partners we’ve been able to develop a unique program that helps upskills Australian entrepreneurs, demonstrating the benefits our mobile technology has on their hectic lives,” she said.

To inspire more Australians to take the leap, Samsung ambassadors and Australians of Note, Hayden Cox of Haydenshapes Surfboards, Thankyou cofounder Daniel Flynn, and designer Poppy Lissiman have been sharing their stories of how they turned their ideas and passions into reality.

Each workshop is running twice daily at WeWork in Pyrmont until the 4th of October. Be inspired, get empowered, and take the leap by booking your spot here.
