Startup ecosystem analysts Techboard will announce the winners of the Australian Angel Awards 2019 at the Sydney Startup Hub next Friday, September 27, and as part of the event, is holding a panel session featuring four of the country’s best angel investors.
Investible’s Trevor Folsom, Jelix Ventures founder and CEO Andrea Gardiner, Follow [the] Seed founding partner and Jayride chairman Andrey Shirben and Kylie Frazer, co-founder and partner of the recently launched Eleanor Ventures, will reveal how they invest and offer tips to founders on how to attract angel investment in their startup.
Techboard CEO and co-founder Peter van Bruchem said the angels on the panel have backed some of Australia’s more prominent startups including Canva, Car Next Door, which this week announced a $6.2 million raise with Hyundai, ASX-listed Jayride, ingogo, Storreduce and Sinorbis.
“We will be exploring how they get access to the deals, how they know which ones to back and for the founders out there, what you need to do to tempt an angel to invest?” he said
“After the panel, the event will provide an excellent opportunity to network with our panellists and angel investors from across Australia over lunch and a couple of drinks up at Tank Stream Labs.”
The hour-long panel session at 11am on September 27 will be followed by the Angel Awards and then lunch.
Last year’s winners the Sydney Angels who took out Best Angel Exit of the Year with startup Jayride listing on the ASX.
