It’s all about me, myself and I… or that’s what a lot of businesses think when it comes to marketing. A big mistake. Even though it is so exciting to write about yourself, it is not so exciting for your prospects and clients. The purpose of your marketing is to attract the right market by making your business appealing to them.
Over the weekend we organised a dress-up party with the theme ‘Rockstars’ and everyone got right into it. It seems that people love dressing up and it got me thinking about marketing and business in general and how some people seem to be playing the ‘dress up’ game a lot. Must be pretty exhausting to try and be something or somebody they are not.
Hands up if you love being heard! Yep, I got both my hands up and I know I’m not the only one! How awesome is it when a supplier, shop assistant or service provider really listens to you, gets you and is able to provide you with the product or service you want because they have really listened to your needs!
So for your own business, think about how you can stand out by adding style, value or a point of difference without having to spend thousands of dollars on big advertising. Can you stand out by how you display, deliver or package your product? Or by the professionalism of your customer service?
