Early-stage and climate tech VC Investible has appointed Charlie Ill as its new CEO in the wake of Rod Bristow stepping down after four years.
Ill became the fund’s first first chief investment officer in early 2023 as the Sydney-based VC ramped up its focus on backing startups across the Asia-Pacific region. He has more than a decade of experience in venture capital, including deep expertise in the Southeast Asia market.
Investible chair and cofounder Trevor Folsom said his appointment marks the next chapter in Investible’s mission to connect innovative startups with the capital, expertise, and networks they need to scale globally.
“Charlie has been instrumental in driving the success of our investment strategy and deeply understands what it takes to excel in this competitive market,” he said.
“His leadership, insight, and extensive venture capital experience make him the ideal choice to guide Investible forward. We’re excited about the opportunities that lie ahead under Charlie’s stewardship.”
Ill said he plans to continue building on the momentum created by Bristow, who bolstered Investible’s presence in Singapore, and built a $32 million climate tech fund and a $51.6 million 2nd early-stage fund, as well as launching a new global climate tech fund with Mandiri Capital Indonesia
“Our focus remains on being a specialised, regional VC with a proven track record of identifying and supporting high-potential founders and companies,” he said.
“Investible has always been about investing in people, their ideas, and their potential. The entrepreneurial spirit that has driven our success, combined with the institutional strength we’ve developed, gives us a unique edge. I look forward to building on the strong foundation we’ve established.”
Bristow also helped build the investment syndicate group Club Investible to more than 200 members globally, before resigning from the VC.
In recent months, Investible has backed UNSW hybrid hydrogen startup DeCarice’s push to transform diesel fuel and Splend cofounder Alan Hunter’s renewables startup, National Renewable Network.
