Here are the 18 finalists in the Australia Technologies Competition

The Australian Technologies Competition (ATC), an annual celebration of the nation’s best best emerging technology companies, has revealed the 18 finalists for ATC21.

The finalists were chosen from 41 semi-finalist scale-up companies that collectively, employ more than 600 people and have invested more than $210 million in the startup technology ideas.

The companies involved had already had access to personal mentoring, an international growth masterclass and a deep dive growth program as part of the competition process.

This year’s shortlist ranges from energy to smart cities, circular economy, manufacturing, health, food, agritech, mining, engineering, cyber security, disaster and emergency management, and social impact are represented in the prestigious shortlist.

The national competition, run by Impact Tech Ventures, is now in its 11th year, and is designed to identify and accelerate home-grown scale-up ventures with global potential.

Competition organiser Pat Mooney said they set out to find the best Australian scaleups, provide them with the best mentoring and growth support and connect them with global partners.

“This year’s finalists provide outstanding solutions to many of the challenges and opportunities that Australia and the planet face,” he said.

“They include systems to predict and manage the impact of climate change and bushfires, new energy solutions, circular economy solutions for food and textiles, telehealth service delivery, protection against password and identity theft, accident prevention in heavy industry using AI and many others.”

Later this month the founders will spend two days working with and pitching to an independent judging panel of founders and commercialisation specialists, including previous winners.

Mooney said they’ll be looking for companies looking to create global success stories, not only with the best technologies, but also the best leadership teams and business plans.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on October 26.

“We invite the technology and investment ecosystem to join us on October 25-26 to learn from and celebrate these companies and to support them in their journey,” Mooney said.
