The Startmate Demo Day Asks: Here’s what the 10 startups are seeking, from investment to referrals

Welcome to The Ask, our regular column  for founders looking for capital.

It may be venture capital, crowdfunding or another path, but if you’re on the hunt for cash, we’re happy to share the news with Australia’s startup community. This is your chance to pitch directly to them.

This week it’s we have a special edition of The Ask featuring the 10 startups involved in Demo Day last week at Blackbird’s Sunrise in Sydney. In the lead up to the event, we’ve been running profiles on the Summer 2024 startup cohort. You can read them here.

Some have already raised, and have a different ask, but you’ll find plenty seeking investment on this list, so here they are.

Everbility

Everbility is an AI co-pilot for allied health professionals(occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, etc).

Whether it is a one-page case note or an 80-page report, Everbility is the best at generating long-form clinical documentation. Everbility is integrating with all the tools allied health professionals use with the mission to automate away all their admin and provide them with personalised co-pilots that will free up their precious time and augment services, leading to better health outcomes worldwide! 

Creating a document in Everbility is as simple as 1, 2 and 3. First, you capture the client information really fast: You can transcribe your appointments, take notes, or upload as much background information for a client as you want. Next, you can use Everbility’s AI-powered templates to generate the final document. The plan

Everbility plans to use the money to build out its engineering and go-to-market team. This will include hiring a couple of engineers to execute the product roadmap to build out the AI automation layer for healthcare. Everbility will also hire a generalist marketing/customer success person in AU and another in the US to accelerate customer acquisition.

Their story

One rewards club for every restaurant, bar, and café linked with your payment card directly on the payment terminal. Venu aggregates customer tastes and behavioural data across the network to deeply personalise deals, rewards, and recommendations for each member – increasing average spend, driving repeat visits, and attracting new customers for businesses.

We already have 21 business signed-up after just 6 weeks in–market; we were pre-product when we joined Startmate in January, and launched our MVP in under 5 weeks. Learn more about Venu here.

The plan

We’re raising $1.5m to surpass $1m annualised revenue by the end of 2024. We will be recruiting 3 sales and 3 engineering roles, launching in Sydney, and developing the payment terminal app.

Telemattica

Their story

Telemattica is monitoring rail infrastructure by fitting sensors to in-service trains.

This allows maintenance issues to be detected in real-time, preventing costly issues that can evolve between infrequent planned inspections.

Telemattica’s first product monitors overhead wiring and has been shown to reduce the delays due to failures by 40%.

Telemattica has bootstrapped revenue to $1.8m in FY23 under a hardware + SaaS business model. Their technology has been deployed to over 20 rail organisations across ANZ, North America, South America and Europe.

Telemattica is using the first products they are building in the rail sector to lay the foundations for an end-to-end platform for managing the complexity of IoT data, from sensor to server. Telemattica’s vision is to be the AWS of Industrial IoT, providing the infrastructure required to bring the potential of Industry 4.0 to the world.

The ask

The plan

Telemattica has two objectives that it will be targeting in the next two years:

  • 200 trains globally fitted with our overhead monitoring system generating $5m ARR.
  • Bring a new technology to market for monitoring rail tracks

Telemattica will use the funds raised to expand sales, operations and engineering resources to hit this target.

Grew revenue by 2.2x within 12 weeks of the Startmate Accelerator from $330k to $670k (pilots to contracts) with 690,000 global users in public and private health organisations.

Their story 

Giving farmers the tools to turn rocks into carbon-removing fertiliser to improve their margins by 65%.

From $0 to $50,000 in revenue in 8 weeks. Secured $600,000 in non-dilutive funding from US and QLD Govt and received a $1 million letter of intent to grow sugarcane.

Their story

Kite Therapy is on a mission to make evidence-based therapy for autistic children radically more affordable and accessible.

They do this by coaching parents and caregivers to implement world-class therapy into their daily routines – including mealtime, bathtime, playtime, bedtime and more. 

This week the startup announced a $750,000 raise led by Flying Fox, with support from LaunchVic’s Alice Anderson Fund for women founders.

NOA is building the next generation of wireless charging technology for any device, from small IoT to large autonomous robots, while delivering more power and better efficiency than current solutions.

We want to maximise wireless charging efficiency to reduce energy wastage and create a world not bound by cables. 

Our all-in-one hardware and software wireless charging platform delivers 10 times more power at over 6 times the distance of current industry standards. This is achieved while maintaining peak efficiencies of up to 91%.

The ask

We are looking to accelerate the adoption of our technology. We would love to connect with anyone in the drones, robotics, or IoT industries and any other company who can benefit from integrating our technology into their products.

The plan

We will be progressing our commercial discussions with 6 organisations across Australia, Europe and the US to integrate our first system into their products.

Following this, we aim to expand our technology further to target robotics and other autonomous systems where more power is required.
