Perth VC fund Purpose Ventures has continued a busy week leading a $4 million raise for mental healthcare marketplace My Mirror.
Purpose also backed a $2 million raise for WA venue booking startup SpaceToCo this week.
The round for My Mirror was also supported by new and existing investors, including Roger Allen, the pioneering startup founder of Computer Power Group.
The My Mirror digital platform is designed to connect everyone in the mental health ecosystem, from clinicians, to clients, GPs, and referrers in a way that minimises wait times and improves accessibility. Launched five years ago, it has now helped 18,000 people access more than 60,000 psychology sessions.
The funds are earmarked for platform development and expansion into the New Zealand market.
The digital health startup was founded by Dr Matthew Zoeller and Josh Liwszyc, who’ve both experienced the consequences of mental ill-health first-hand.
Dr Zoeller, an intensive care consultant, witnessed the mental health crisis for frontline healthcare workers, who lacked access to quality, mental health support services.
Liwszyc, the startup’s WA-based CEO, observed similar impacts in the resources industry over more than a decade.
“Consistent industry feedback and media coverage has highlighted the long waitlists, access and funding barriers leaving many people without mental health care. My Mirror is able to provide same-day availability to high-quality psychology services for all Australians,” he said.
“We are grateful for the continued support of our investors and are excited to welcome Purpose Ventures.”
My Mirror plans to address the gaps in Australia’s mental health system by creating an interoperable digital solution that connects referrers, triage services, patients, funding sources, and clinicians, having established partnerships with some of Australia’s largest referrers and triage organisations.
The platform provides instant access to telehealth psychology services across private, Medicare-funded, EAP, insurer, DVA, and NDIS markets in
Australia.
Purpose Ventures MD Derek Gerrard said he was “very impressed” with the team and the startup’s growth since first meeting them last year.
“Following our recently announced investment into SpacetoCo, My Mirror represents the seventh investment for Purpose Ventures and the sixth into a Western Australian company, demonstrating the strong activity in the local ecosystem,” he said.
