FinTech Australia has announced the new Positive Impact award, which celebrates social impact in fintech. They are now calling for entries for its seventh annual awards.

The Positive Impact award will consider the social, environmental, and economic impact of fintech companies. They introduced the new award to honour work on this within the sector.

FinTech Australia is a national association for the Australian FinTech Startup community. They aim to make Australia the leading market for FinTech Innovation and Investment by working with both sides of Government, Industry, and the Australian FinTech community to create a supportive environment and partner ecosystem in Australia and abroad.

The Forum Theatre in Melbourne will host this event on May 31, 2023. Twenty awards will be offered this year, including Best Workplace Diversity, Emerging Fintech Leader Of The Year, Female Fintech Leader Of The Year, and Outstanding Fintech Leader Of The Year.

FinTech Australia General Manager Rehan D’Almeida said: “We review the awards on offer every year to ensure they accurately represent progress within the fintech industry.”

“Over the past few years, the sector has been quietly working on more initiatives for financial inclusion, environment, education and broader societal impact. We want to champion and promote more of this work with the launch of the Positive Impact Award.”

“Impact will be a running theme for FinTech Australia this year. We aim to release further resources to further support companies in fintech heading in this direction.”

Over 370 submissions were made to last year’s Finnie Awards across 22 categories in 2022. And over 430 attended the Gala Dinner.

Payments fintech Marqeta has signed on as a Finnie Event Partner and will present the Excellence in Business Lending Award. FinTech Australia is currently taking expressions of interest for further event partners.

Entries for the Finnie Awards close on March 10.
