FinTech Australia has launched a talent marketplace for Australian fintechs on LinkedIn, in a project backed by Tier One People.
The marketplace, run through LinkedIn Groups, aims to connect candidates with prospective employers and help any talent displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic find new opportunities.
Even before the project went live this week, leading Australian fintech companies such as Revolut, Xinja, Up, Wisr, 86 400, Assembly Payments, ReInventure Group, Airtree Ventures and Spriggy signed on, with job opportunities to start appearing there from today.
FinTech Australia GM Rebecca Schot-Guppy said it was a closed marketplace, but welcomed others with experience in the financial services to register their interest.
“This crisis will cost many their jobs, and the fintech industry is not immune. However the FinTech Talent Marketplace is a way that we can help those whose jobs are impacted and keep them in the ecosystem,” she said.“While we are setting this up now, we believe that this initiative will play a key role in the recovery phase of this crisis through growing and hiring staff.”
Tier One People MD Dexter Cousins FinTech Australia’s counterparts in Japan and Singapore have copied the idea to set up marketplaces in their countries and they’re hoping it will become a global fintech community initiative.
“Hiring in these conditions is incredibly challenging for employers. Where posting a regular job ad could usually lead to one hundred applications, now it will easily see one thousand. Time poor founders can’t manage these volumes of interest,” he said.
“This marketplace is helping connect experienced fintech industry talent with the companies that can utilize their skills most. It’s completely free for talent and fintech Ccompanies to join the group.”
Candidates and employees can register their interest on LinkedIn.
