Facebook has announced a suite of new tools aimed at small business owners to assist them in saving time and money when creating resources for their social media campaigns.

The new tools include an Automated Ad feature which will easily allow small business owners to create a targeted campaign based on their unique goals; a free Appointment tool to allow service-based businesses to manage appointments and customer info, plus a new set of video creation tools which will make producing custom media simple.

Facebook acknowledges that small businesses are the backbone of the economy, employing over 5 million Australians. Liam Lucas, SMB team lead, Facebook ANZ said the social media giant is committed to producing tools that make it easier for our nation’s businesses to connect with customers.

“We know that for SMBs, time is precious and they want simple tools that save them time and resources. Our new Automated Ads take the guesswork out of creating effective ads that can run on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Audience Network, making it easier for SMB owners to drive results and focus on growth,” Lucas said.

Facebook believes the new tools will make it easier for businesses to promote themselves on the network. The social media giant boasts that the new Automated Ad feature will allow SMBs to create a customised marketing campaign for their business in just a few minutes.

Some of the most helpful features of Automated Ads include the ability to create multiple versions of an ad. Call to action buttons and text will be auto-suggested based on information from a business’ Page. Once the ad is active, the solution will automatically show the best-performing version. The tool will also solution suggest audience options or recommendations based on information from the business’ Page and set a recommended budget for the campaign spend.

The social network has also announced the expansion of its free messenger service to allow businesses to send reminders to customers through Messenger of text message. Businesses will also be able to book and manage appointments directly on Facebook. And to keep things organised, they can also sync appointments with their personal calendar or another appointment management tool.

Perhaps the most exciting announcement in the new suite of business tools is the new editing offerings which all allow automatic cropping, video trimming and image and text overlays. These tools, are now available in both Ads Manager and Business Manager and can help reduce the resources needed to create compelling video content for SMBs.
