A group of Australian-based Harvard Alumni will fund two new scholarships to send an entrepreneur and an investor to attend the Harvard Business School Executive Education Course in February 2025.
The scholarships are the brainchild of three graduates of Harvard College and senior technology industry executives: Antler Australia founding partner, Bede Moore; Unseen cofounder and CEO Joanna Marsh; and Lauren Williams, a director of global growth and technology companies. The trio came together to raise the scholarships as a way to help other leaders in the technology industry build relationships outside of the local ecosystem.
“Building impactful companies in Australia is tough,” Moore said.
“Many of our most successful businesses address a global footprint, but this requires a network and relationships that extend beyond Australia’s borders.
“We wanted to create a scholarship that helps reduce the geographic and capital constraints that come with building companies in Australia, and specifically we wanted to support entrepreneurs and investors who are working on companies that will have a positive impact on our society.”
The twin scholarships will be awarded to one entrepreneur to attend the Harvard Business School Executive Education Program’s Launching New Ventures course (February 23 – March 1, 2025), and one investor to attend the Private Equity and Venture Capital course (March 5 – 8, 2025).
“The purpose of sending two scholars is to help our recipients build a community of supporters. They will be supported by Harvard alumni here in Australia, have the benefit of traveling to Harvard with another scholarship recipient, and get the benefit of networking over in the US,” Williams said.
“We want this to be an experience that extends well beyond their time on campus and helps them create better companies to the benefit of all Australians.”
The scholarships are being launched in conjunction with the Harvard Club of Australia (HCA), which has a long history of supporting Australian scholars to attend courses at the university. The scholarship will be funded by Harvard alumni, a group of ex-Presidents of the HCA, and the Snow Foundation.
Entries for the scholarships close on Wednesday, December 11. Apply here.
