Clean Energy Finance’s Tim Buckley headlines Climate Salad’s annual climate tech investor showcase

Climate Salad’s big annual shindig connecting climate tech startups with investors, is on next Wednesday, November 27, in Sydney.

Australian Climate Tech Investor Connect kicks off at 1pm at the Paddington Town Hall, and climaxes with the Climate Tech Awards from 4.30pm, recognising the best in local solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Climate Salad founder Mick Liubinskas said the event is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with investors, founders and industry leaders while celebrating the achievements of the Australian climate tech.

“This years big end of year event is focused on strong connections. We’re hosting a huge set of climate tech investors and then doing a mass warm intro with them and founders,” he said.

“We finish the day with all industry leaders, the Climate Tech Awards and a celebration of a big year done and a bigger one to come.”

The afternoon startups with Investor Connect, from 1pm: an exclusive, investor-only session designed for focused discussions and strategic networking with fellow climate tech investors.

Liubinskas said it two hours will have a strong focus on key issues for 2025.The highlights include a keynote address from Tim Buckley, Director, Climate Energy Finance on “The Energy Transformation – Looking Towards 2025”; as well as Kristin Vaughan, Managing Partner as Virescent Ventures; and Nathan Fabian, Chief Sustainable Systems Officer at PRI; plus discussions on 2025 Priorities and Actions – FOAK (First-of-a-Kind) Projects, led by Main Sequence and Virescent, before wrapping up by 3pm with networking time.

Tim Buckley said connecting and developing the climate tech investors in Australia is an urgent task.

“We’re building the solutions to these massive energy and Decarbonisation problems and we need to make sure we can finance them at much greater speed and scale in the domestic context,” he said.

From 3pm there’s 90 minutes for founders to join in for warm intros and quick conversations with investors. These brief sessions help both sides explore alignment and set the stage for potential follow-ups. Following the intros, open networking time will be available to continue conversations.

“I’m attending to assess if and how investors in the climate space are shifting toward companies that have moved beyond ideas to tangible industry adoption,” he said.

“I’m looking to connect with Australian investors who see beyond typical renewable plays and have a strategic outlook that spans both agriculture and carbon removals.”

The investors taking part include Titanium Ventures, Giant Leap, the CEFC, Grok, Skip Capital, Melt, Main Sequence, Wollemi Capital, Virescent, and others.
