“There is no panacea to the threat of cybercrime, but you can take a measured approach to reducing your risks,” says Ben Jones, co-founder of new cybersecurity startup, Jumpstart Security.

Jones and co-founder Saaim Khan are on a mission to make cybersecurity simple and easy for small business owners. Launched in Sydney this week, Jumpstart Security offers simple practical solutions for small business owners to ensure their business is as secure as it needs to be.

Drawing from the decades of experience in the IT sector, the duo have come up with a tiered security solution that will ensure businesses can maintain security without expensive subscriptions or large technology investments.

“Today criminals are just as likely to disrupt your small business as they would a major enterprise. The world has changed in so many ways in the past year and having a digital and online presence is fundamental. To thrive and survive it’s imperative that you prioritise your security,” Jones said.

“We work tirelessly to deliver what is most important to a business owner, certainty, which we believe enables you to focus on running your business.”

Cost-effective solutions

Jumpstart Security plans to service businesses with up to 150 employees and an annual turnover of no more than $10 million.  Sectors they will specialise in include: legal, financial services, education, accounting and healthcare.

Co-founder Khan acknowledges many small business owners have a lot on their plate, so Jumpstart Security aims to ease the pain points around maintaining cybersecurity.

“The world needs more honesty and help, without the need to rip people off when it comes to cybersecurity. I believe that means helping Aussie businesses, especially the small-sized ones that make up more than 80% of the country’s established business entities,” Khan said.

“I want to help as many small businesses figure out what cybersecurity they need and give them the easiest path to it.”
