Startmate’s first-ever fully remote cohort of 16 Australian and New Zealand startups to pitch at live-streamed Demo Day this afternoon, October from 4.30pm.

The event comes as Startmate opens applications for its hugely popular Office Hours program, on again this November, which aims to support up to 1000 founders from Australia and New Zealand by offering 1:1 mentorship, tactical advice on anything from fundraising to go-to-market to product-led sales, and opportunities for peer connection.

This year’s virtual Demo Day includes a special ‘after party’ social experience to recreate the serendipity of a live event. Rather than following a typical one-by-one pitching format, Startmate’s Demo Day: Deconstructed will run like a mini conference with quickfire pitches and panel discussions, as well as audience Q&A.

This year’s cohort, from Melbourne and in New Zealand, ranges from aerospace to real estate, law, SaaS, hardware, biotech and craft beer.

It marks conclusion of Startmate’s first-ever New Zealand cohort, as well as Startmate’s second climate accelerator track, with three startups in the program focused specifically on ideas that work to reduce the world’s carbon emissions: Gridcognition, Digital Agriculture Services (DAS) and Cass Materials.

Startmate’s Principal Lauren Capelin says Demo Day is when our cohort companies take stock of their progress to date and articulate their ambition for where they’re headed.

“As we approach the end of a turbulent year for the Australian and New Zealand tech and startup community, we’re looking forward to gathering the Startmate family, and extending an invitation to the broader community to see the magic first-hand,” she said.

“Now more than ever, we believe the next global game-changing businesses can come from anywhere – we’re seeking founders who don’t fit the usual mould, who bring a deep understanding of the problem they’re trying to solve and who could be unleashed by the mentorship and networks Startmate can provide. Demo Day and Office Hours are some of the best entry points from which to launch your startup journey – you will never look back.”

Startups in Startmate’s accelerator program receive a $75k investment and mentorship from the organisation’s network of more than 650+ mentors and founder alumni.

This afternoon’s Demo Day runs from 4.30pm to 7pm AEDT. You can register to attend Demo Day here.
