Amazon Prime Video’s first Australian series is essentially a startup pitchfest for comedians

- August 21, 2019 < 1 MIN READ
Amazon Prime Video has announced its first Australian Amazon Original series will pitch 10 Australian comedic actors and stand-ups against each other trying to make each other laugh first to win a $ 100,000 prize.

Actress Rebel Wilson will host the comedy-variety series, LOL: Last One Laughing, in 2020.

The local series is a reworking of another Amazon Original series by Japanese comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto, now in its seventh season. There’s also a Mexican version, now six seasons old. The Australian version will be produced by Endemol Shine Australia, the production company best known for Australian commerical TV shows such as Masterchef, Married at First Sight, Survivor, Gogglebox, Ninja Warrior and Lego Masters.

The show will be available globally in more than 200 countries where Prime Video operates.

Amazon offers a free 30-day trial to new customers, and a $59 annual membership or a $6.99 monthly subscription. Details are available here.
