Former Square Peg senior investment associate Casey Flint has made the switch to the tech side, joining AWS where she’ll focus on AI.

Flint has spend the last few years exploring and unpacking artificial intelligence (AI), explaining her findings and thinking in the excellent series Artificially Intelligent.

After four years at the VC, the decision to leave investment is “bittersweet”, she said in a LinkedIn post announcing the move.

“I’ve made this jump because I want to be more directly involved in and follow my passion for what AI is to bring over the next few years,” she wrote.

“What I’ve wanted is the opportunity to see AI from every angle – from chips all the way up to applications, from small startups to large enterprises.”

Flint will be finding and supporting AI-native companies in her new role, having spoken to more than 1000 engineers, researchers, and business leaders about AI.

“I have a lot of love for the founders I’ve had the privilege of working with during my time at Square Peg and I hope this role means that number grows even larger,” she said.

“I also love talking to and learning from researchers and developers in the space, so please get in touch if you want to chat about ML.”

She promised more insights on Artificially Intelligent from her time talking with people at leading US AI companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic and DeepMind.

“I know that there’s an enormous amount of hype around AI right now, but despite that I truly believe that this is a special moment in history,” she said.

“The rate of change we’ve seen in AI capabilities over the last few years alone has been remarkable and we appear to only be scratching the surface of what we can do.

“I am partly afraid, because from what I can tell change is coming much faster than anyone sane could have anticipated and that may have large implications for how society as we know it functions. But I’m also incredibly excited because I believe in the scientific progress AI can unlock and I have always believed that scientific progress is a force for good.”
