Victorian government-backed startup authority LaunchVic has two new grant rounds, worth up to $1.5 million, to support the local ecosystem through accelerator programs and investor education.
Grants of up to $1.5 million are available for accelerator programs requiring ongoing funding to maintain their operations in the state, while a separate grant of up to $1 million is available to fund an investor education program to give early-stage investors the confidence and knowledge to back emerging startups.
LaunchVic CEO Dr Kate Cornick said supporting more startups to scale and increasing early stage funding are key pillars of the organisation’s new strategy, to be revealed shortly.
“We’re keen to hear from established operators already making an impact in Victoria’s startup ecosystem,” she said.
“LaunchVic remains laser-focused on the long-term growth of our local startup sector and on supporting the vital infrastructure required to achieve this.”
The organisation has so far funded 15 accelerator programs that have supported more than 600 startups, helping them in turn secure more than $328 million in capital.
On top of that, 200 investors have participated in LaunchVic-funded investor education programs, resulting in $84 million in startup investment.
There are now more than 3,500 startups in Victoria with a combined value of $129.3 billion.
Information sessions for the new grants will take place this Tuesday, October 29. Applications for both grants are due by November 19.
