Julie Dini is an educational and developmental psychologist from Adelaide who’s been helping children for more than 25 years.
Her focus on children and their feelings led her to establish Little Seeds Therapy and a range of fun and engaging flash cards as well as a new book to help young children learn about and understand their feelings.
Julie’s Dealing in Feelings cards have been designed to help children recognise and express emotions whilst playing fun card games.
Each pack has 26 different emotions depicted in the facial expressions of real children. Julie developed the Australian-made cards not only to help parents teach their children about feelings in themselves and others, she designed them as a resource for other professionals such as teachers, therapists, counsellors, speech pathologists and psychologists.
And it’s not all about education – the cards can be used for funs in games such as Memory or Go Fish
“I know how important it is for children to develop the ability to understand and express their feelings,” Julie said.
“However, managing feelings is not always easy and it can be especially challenging for children with disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability and for children who have had adverse early childhood experiences.”
She’s also produced a fun book called Feelings and Me using the facial expressions of animals to help children learn about emotions.
To help Julie grow her Dealings in Feelings brand, she turned to Amazon Australia as an important national distribution channel for her products.
Over 12 days in the lead up to Christmas, we’ll be sharing the stories of great Australians startups selling on Amazon Australia, told by their founders.
Here is Julie’s story. Happy holidays to all.
