The Business
Healthcare systems worldwide are buckling under the pressure of ageing populations and rising administrative costs. In the US alone, administrative expenses account for a staggering $1 trillion annually, or 25% of the total $4 trillion healthcare budget.
In Australia, inefficiencies such as unanswered calls, scheduling bottlenecks, and overburdened staff reflect deeper systemic issues in Australia’s healthcare system. This impacts clinic operations and patient care and costs, where gaps between Medicare rebates and insurance premiums are growing and bulk-billing services are scant.
Lyngo AI was conceived to solve this systemic problem by addressing one of the biggest pain points in healthcare: communication inefficiencies. Through customer validation, Lyngo uncovered that over half of clinic calls go unanswered, and staff often spend over four hours daily on the phone. This leaves patients frustrated and staff overwhelmed.
Lyngo’s AI-powered receptionist provides an elegant solution – it answers calls instantly, managing routine tasks like bookings, reschedules, cancellations, and inquiries quickly and precisely.
By seamlessly integrating with practice management systems (PMS) like Cliniko, Lyngo automates administrative work, allowing clinics to focus on what matters most: delivering care and ensuring every patient feels heard.
Lyngo’s founders create a strong foundation for tackling the complexities of healthcare communication. CEO Tanmay Patel is a serial entrepreneur and seasoned operator with extensive experience in global markets, including leading development initiatives at AWS and founding several successful ventures. CTO Cam Moore, a self-described “idea generator and technical executor,” brings deep expertise in software engineering and machine learning having trained models like Vision AI.
Antler Investment Thesis
“Lyngo was one of the first movers in this space, and differentiates itself by actually integrating into complex workflows that most off-the-shelf systems are unable to handle and are typically handled by humans,” says Mike Abbott, partner at Antler in Australia.
“We have known Tanmay and Cam for a long time prior to investing and have been consistently impressed by their vision, hustle and commitment to excellence.
“Unlike competitors who focus on flashy features, Tanmay and Cam are prioritising reliability and scalability to turn voice interactions into actionable tasks with ease. This practical approach often overlooked by other startups in this space ensures that Lyngo consistently delivers value to healthcare practices.”
Traction/Milestones
Launched as a global-first company, Lyngo operates across ANZ, the UK, and Ireland with a mission to eventually transform healthcare communication worldwide.
When Lyngo first launched, the service cost over $10 per minute and had response times exceeding 10 seconds. Through significant enhancements to their product, Lyngo now delivers sub-2-second response times at a price of less than 80 cents per minute.
Lyngo’s initial validation and pilots have saved clinics an average of three hours daily by automating call answering, reducing missed calls (previously 53%), and delivering a solution four times more cost-effective than external assistants or call centres.
Having already established itself as the world’s first AI partner with Cliniko, a leading PMS in allied health, Lyngo is showing early signs as a trusted solution in the industry. By working closely with these industry partners, Lyngo has unlocked access to a network of over 10,000 customers, including some of the largest physio and chiropractic groups in the country.
