So you’re just going to let them die?

When someone stops breathing in front of you and you call 000, the operator will dispense the ambulance immediately – but they’ll also walk you through CPR so that you have a chance of keeping that person alive in the meantime. Apparently, more than 50% of people can NOT bring themselves to follow these instructions – they panic. They become overwhelmed and freak out. And their loved one dies.

I Suck …

So, I’ve been hiding something from you all. And it’s gotten to the point where if I don’t tell you the truth, I just don’t know how I’ll be able to look at myself in the mirror anymore. You see the truth is – I suck.

Shut. The. Fcuk. Up.

When I was little(r), in my early twenties – before I had a successful business and when I was a total mess myself in my life – I used to HEART getting on the then version of social media (forums, chat rooms) and giving unsolicited advice on all kinds of things … from business to relationships to careers and self-esteem … advice I hope to hell no one ever took too seriously. I would wander around saying …

I was an Incongruent Hypocrite

And when you’re focusing on filling a single event, the front end sales also have to cover your living expenses for 6 months, not to mention our 3 staff members. I had the money for the deposit in my bank account, but I didn’t want to spend it. You know that feeling – you’ve got a nice little pile of money in the account and you avoid touching it. You keep it there, you know – just in case. It’s safe. It’s comfortable.

Where are all the Good Commission Only Sales People??

EVERY company who employs sales people will tell you – the way you get great sales people is to build them. You need a plug and play system that you can put ORDINARY people into and get extraordinary results from them. But that system HAS to include someone who has already done it to manage the whole thing, so you’ve got two choices: Pay a Wage and get someone in who’ll help you OR (and this is definitely what I think!) Learn to sell yourself

Steal My Shit and Die!

I recently confronted a woman who had ripped off my UVP format and regurgitated it (badly) in an article I also appeared in. When I confronted her about it, she flat out lied – it came from someone else, she said. Uh huh. I know, for a fact, that my UVP format is completely unique in the market – I put it together, alone, in the spare room of my 2 bedroom flat in Footscray at 2am one morning when I had 10 of 15 UVPs (then, USPs) left to write for members in a program I was part of. It didn’t come off the internet, it didn’t come from a book, it came from sitting in front of the computer, actually working through writing the things.

Oi. Fatty!

When I was in primary school, I was bullied relentlessly. Between the ages of 6 and 8, I was beaten up pretty much every day by boys in my class while they taunted me about being fat and ugly. My parents advice was to ignore it – to turn the other cheek. I love my parents and I know they were doing their best to help – but they were wrong. Some 25 years later, you would think life would be well past dealing with 5 year old bullies calling you fat. Except that it’s not. I had a run-in yesterday with a bully who hasn’t grown up – and it presented some interesting business points … about why turning the other cheek is almost ALWAYS a bad idea. So I wrote you a post about it.
