Jay Daniel Thompson

Jay Daniel Thompson is Lecturer and Program Manager, Professional Communication (Early Career Development Fellow) in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University. His research asks what ethical online communication might look like and how this might help mitigate digital hostility and networked disinformation, thereby creating safer online environments for work and recreation. Dr Thompson has published on these topics in Q1 (Scimago index) journals such as Convergence, Feminist Media Studies, Media International Australia, Journalism, International Journal of Cultural Studies and Continuum.

Dr. Thompson is the co-author of Content Production for Digital Media: An Introduction (Springer Nature; co-authored with Associate Professor John Weldon) and Fake News in Digital Cultures (Emerald Publishing; co-authored with Professor Rob Cover and Dr Ashleigh Haw), both published in 2022. He is currently working on a book manuscript for Routledge on the ethical journalistic reportage of online conspiracies.
