Top 50 Australian Female Entrepreneurs Under 40

- February 10, 2014 2 MIN READ

This is our first ever ranked list for 2014. Unlike our Top Coders & Tech People or Startup of the Year lists, the Top 50 Female Entrepreneurs Under 40 has been selected by our team here at Shoe String – including myself (Founder and Publisher), our Online Editor and one of our contributing journalists. When preparing the list we looked at three key areas:

  1. Current Traction
  2. Scalability
  3. Industry

To qualify for the list, entrepreneurs needed to be female and have a business or be partnered with a company strategically and operating for a minimum of three months.

Further observations were made when analysing the list:

  • 60% of women on the list operate a business that has its main point of contact online.
  • 30% of women on the list have raised capital in order to get their business off the ground.
  • Majority of the women are located in NSW (33). This is followed by Victoria (6), Queensland (4), Abroad (4), South Australia (2) and Western Australia (1).
  • The five women with the highest estimated net worths are over the age of 30.
  • The five youngest on the list have raised over $10 million in capital between them.
