Startup Productify show Retail that Images Sell!

- June 11, 2013 2 MIN READ

Online retailers are wasting countless hours every day by manually uploading product images and data onto their websites, whilst trying to ensure the accuracy of the information, image size and clarity.

Productify was Co-Founded by Doron Ostrin and Dean Steingold in June 2012. It was born out of the frustration of trying to share images and descriptions between wholesalers and retailers online. To date, excel spreadsheets (which 80% of the time are inaccurate) are sent via email and images are traded through CD sharing or Dropbox. These days are now over thanks to Productify – a revolutionary online solution for the sharing of product information where wholesalers and retailers have real time access to images and data via the creation of online catalogues.

‘The best way to sell products is to let them sell themselves’ James Chudley from Smashing Magazing. Images can communicate information quickly, they are easier to ‘read’ than text and can be used to inspire, inform, provoke or entertain. Productify prides itself on this notion and has made the process of sharing high resolution product images between wholesalers and retailers efficient and pain free, instead of the time consuming and daunting task which e-tailers face daily.

The focus of online retailers has now shifted from mass product data and descriptions over their website to the importance of images and their ability to sell product. Company budgets for image photography have increased by 20% over the last 12 months and this number is growing at a rapid pace. Suppliers have started to see the correlation between great product images and an increase in sales.

“Productify aims to bridge the gap between the current in store archaic methodology and the ever evolving online space. This is done by allowing distributors (brand owners) to upload and curate their product information and then share this with their customers in real-time” says cofounder Doron Ostrin.

This is going to be one of the most exciting startups to have an official launch this year in my opinion, the two sided market place here is all in the B2B space and it solves a very real problem between wholesalers and their online retailers. The strategy the founders are implementing going after the major players in each of the wholesale industries [ie Wholesalers of Chemists etc] has proven to be very successful thus far, with their competitors following soon after.
