Melbourne startup One Key Access has raised $1 million in a pre-Seed round as it looks to solve the problem of parcel theft for deliveries to apartments.

The startup, co-founded by former Australia Post employees Chanel Costabir and Raymond Ngai, emerged out of the Antler program last year.

Antler, which made the initial investment in the startup, has again backed the pre-Seed round along with LauchVic’s new Alice Anderson fund, which backs female founders, with strategic Angel investors also backing the raise.

One Key Access launched in Melbourne this month, and the funding is earmarked to grow their team and expand to other states.

The startup sees itself as straddling LogisticsTech and PropTech to give authorised couriers with secure access to buildings and parcel storage to help the last-mile delivery industry. One Key Access connects couriers to access control systems and parcel lockers via its cloud platform.

Costabir, the startup’s CEO, said that with more than 82% of Australian households shopping online, parcel theft is on the rise.

“Our goal at One Key Access is to enable frictionless 24/7 deliveries. We believe we can best achieve this by being the connector between the delivery drivers and the entire smart delivery ecosystem,” she said.

A universal digital key grants authorised entry to buildings and parcel lockers.

“We have created an agnostic solution that streamlines the process for a courier to gain authorised entry into buildings and then easily deliver into a parcel locker or mail room,” Costabir said.

“The delivery experience today is less than ideal. Delivery drivers aren’t able to securely deliver to apartment residents when they aren’t home, residents are having to travel to alternative locations to collect their parcels and building managers are dealing with parcels being stolen from the foyer. With One Key Access, all of this friction is removed.”

One Key Access is already working with a number of delivery companies including leading couriers Australia Post, Aramex, Couriers Please and DHL.

Antler Venture Partner Laura Faulconer said they were pleased to back a team that’s “worked at the absolute coalface” of a problem.

“By knowing what hasn’t worked in the past, and a finger on the pulse of what the market need is, One Key Access has carved out an exciting niche that will streamline last mile logistics,” she said.

LaunchVic CEO Dr Kate Cornick praised One Key Access as a Victorian startup on the rise.

“We are proud to be investing in One Key Access via LaunchVic’s Alice Anderson Fund to help solve a common pain point for thousands of Australian online shoppers,” she said.

“Chanel and Raymond bring their deep commercial experience to this issue and the capital they have secured will help them refine their product offer and propel their long-term growth – something LaunchVic is focused on ensuring right across all aspects of the Victorian startup sector.”
