It’s been a big year for climate tech startups as momentum towards net zero carbon emissions takes on greater urgency around the world.

To celebrate what’s been achieved locally, the inaugural Australian and New Zealand Climate Tech Awards are being held in Sydney this Thursday, December 9.

The awards are being presented by the region’s largest Climate Tech community, Climate Salad, and being held as part of Climate Salad’s inaugural Climate Tech Showcase.

Climate Salad co-founder Mick Liubinkas it was important time to showcase and celebrate the work of the ANZ tech community in addressing the pressing environmental challenges of our age.

“Technology has a huge role to play in getting the planet to environmental sustainability,” he said.

“Australian climate tech is booming and well on the way to creating a million new jobs. This showcase lets everyone see the amazing products and meet the teams building them. The awards is a symbol of recognition of the hard work being done by the climate tech ecosystem.”

Tickets for the in-person event are now sold out, but you can still join in online with it kicks off at 4.30pm on Thursday. You can book at Humanitix here.

There’s more on Climate Salad’s work here.

In the meantime, here are the companies and people nominated for the six  categories in the Climate Tech Awards.
