Employee experience platform Culture Amp has acquired San Francisco cultural values recognition startup Disco.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Disco helps companies recognise and celebrate values-driven work, foster team appreciation and improve company culture across distributed teams. Founded in 2015, the venture is an app in Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Culture Amp CEO and co-founder Didier Elzinga said the acquisition continues to enhance the employee experience platform.

“Values are at the heart of powerful cultures. Disco has pioneered a wonderfully simple yet powerful way of recognising them every day,” he said.

“Critical to creating a better world of work is improving how we work. This acquisition allows us to expand the tools available to our customers to recognise their values at work, to bolster our flow of work and integration expertise, and to drive meaningful change and deeper insights across organisations.”

Former Disco CEO Jeremy Vandehey has been appointed Culture Amp’s Director of Product.

“We are incredibly excited to join forces with Culture Amp and to have the opportunity to help thousands of companies enable values-driven work, build engagement, and foster team appreciation,” he said.

“That is why we founded Disco and we see an opportunity to rapidly accelerate what we set out to do by being part of Culture Amp.”

The deal goes through as Asana’s Head of People Operations, Anna Binder, joins the Culture Amp board.

Elzinga said he’s been a long-time admirer of how intentionally Binder, and Asana CEO Dustin Moskovitz, built and scaled their Culture.

“I am excited for the insight and experience Anna will bring to our board,” he said.

“Anna is a world-renowned leader in the people and culture space and strongly believes that culture is a core driver of business success.”

The Board now comprises of Roli Saxena, President of Nextroll’s AdRoll business and former Chief Customer Officer of Brex, Wesley Chan, Managing Director of Felicis Ventures, Nick Crocker, General Partner at Blackbird Ventures, Kevin Diestel, Partner at Sapphire Ventures, Doug English, Culture Amp CTO and co-founder, and Elzinga.
