Following the success of several virtual events during COVID, Mum’s & Co is back with the third iteration of its annual Be MPowered conference. This year’s event will adopt a new format that will connect mumbitious entrepreneurs around the nation.

The conference will take place on June 2 and features an inspiring line-up of business-owning mums across hybrid digital and face-to-face sessions that will reach out to the Mums & Co community.

Harmonise ambition and wellbeing

The brains behind the event is Carrie Kwan, co-founder of Mums & Co, a support and networking platform for ambitious mums in business. Kwan founded the business following the birth of her first son.

Kwan described the Be MPowered conference as an immersion into the values of Mums & Co to harmonise ambition, livelihood and wellbeing.

“This conference truly blends business development, individual wellbeing and family. The modern online format is a new type of national gathering, as business events traditionally don’t suit business-owning mums,” said Kwan.

Kwan suggests Be MPowered 2021 is the space to dream big.

“Attendees are encouraged to nurture their #Mumbition, build their confidence, feel empowered to ask for what they need and gain practical tools to achieve their goals. The eight sessions focus on a mix of business and wellbeing topics and regardless of industry, will provide universal wisdom about the rewards and challenges of being a business-owning mum.”

A line-up of inspiring women

Speakers are business-owning mums who have excelled in their field and who will share their strategies and actionable tips for harmonising business and motherhood. Representing women across Australia, speakers are located from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Dubbo, and are at all ages and stages of business and motherhood.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Turia Pitt, Spend With Them: Mindset coach, athlete, humanitarian and one of Australia’s most admired and widely recognised people.

  • Grace Brennan, Buy from the Bush: Grace has been instrumental in uniting Australia’s communities in the city and country and saved businesses impacted by devastating drought and bushfires.

  • Katrina McCarter, Marketing To Mums: International speaker, best-selling author and marketing strategist, Katrina specialises in helping businesses drive sales within the Mum market.

  • Dr Delia McCabe: Author of Feed Your Brain – 7 Steps to a Lighter, Brighter You and Feed Your Brain – The Cookbook, Delia combines her knowledge of the human brain with research into how specific foods influence brain function, specifically in regards to female stress.

Bite-sized sessions for busy mums

The format of this year’s event introduces 10-minute snackable stackable sesssions, so delegates can prioritise topics relevant to their business needs and to avoid online fatigue.  Sessions take place between 10am-2pm during school hours to allow women to juggle motherhood and business.

A keynote address and Q&A with an industry expert is followed by an interactive workshop to immediately put into practice key learnings. View the full list of speakers and topics here.

Delegates have an opportunity to practice their pitch and gain exposure for their business with a 30-second pitch video, to be compiled into a video reel and played between sessions.

Online events

The online format allows the conference to be accessible to business-owning mums across Australia via satellite feed. Kwan says this is particularly important for the 30 per cent of business-owning mums based in regional areas – allowing them to feel connected and part of the community.

The conference will be attended in person by approximately 200 delegates at meet-ups across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Dubbo, with more to be announced. Mums & Co encourages those wishing to make meaningful connections with like-minded women to host a viewing party in their hometown.

A digital swag bag will be distributed to attendees on the day, including a conference workbook and suggested activities for mothers working from home with kids. All sessions will be made available on the Mums & Co platform following the event.

Tickets are $130 and include a membership to join the Mums & Co movement – the beginning of a relationship with a growing community of business-owning mums.
