Parcel delivery startup Sendle sets its sights on the US

- November 27, 2019 < 1 MIN READ
Sydney-based courier disruptor Sendle is heading to the US just five years after its launch hoping to carve out a slice of the growth e-commerce deliver market.

The venture raised $20 million in a Series B at the start of 2019, in part to explore international markets and with four billion parcels shipped around the US annually, sees opportunity in the $100 billion market targeting small business there with its flat rate carbon-neutral shipping service.

The company will base itself out of Seattle, collaborating with US Postal Service’s regional network to cover the entire nation.

Co-founder and CEO James Chin Moody (pictured) said the challenges of small business parcel delivery “are pretty universal” so the US move makes sense because “small businesses are under pressure to meet rising consumer expectations but struggle to compete with larger players who can absorb higher shipping costs”.

Chin Moody said 2019 saw record growth and product innovation.

“In the last year alone, we’ve grown our AU leadership team significantly, confirmed plans to offer the largest parcel drop off network in Australia by 2020 and most recently announced our extended partnership with eBay. There’s some more exciting news coming in the following months as we look to extend our partnership network further,” he said.

“Australia continues to be our heartland and our investment and focus on simplifying and democratising shipping for Australian small businesses remains unchanged.”
