PHOTOS: Hub Australia’s new co-working space in Melbourne’s first skyscraper

- July 3, 2019 2 MIN READ

Privately-owned co-working provider Hub Australia has opened its third Melbourne CBD space, Hub Parliament Station in Orica (formerly ICI) House on Nicholson Street.

The 19-storey 1958 office tower was Australia’s first skyscraper. The Hub space is spread across three levels (16, 17 and 18) covering 2,757 square metres.

Hub Parliament Station can fit more than 500 members with MitchelLake Group, ClearPoint Counsel and The Bravery Trust each taking space at the premium co-working site, Hub’s sixth in the country.

It’s Hub Australia’s sixth, as it builds on its nationally engaged co-working community, with its footprint now totalling 23,000 square metres across Australia.

Hub Australia CEO and founder, Brad Krauskopf said that when choosing a site, he always looks for unique buildings with a story and history that Hub members can weave into their own.

“ICI House paved the way for the new style of international architecture when it became the first example in Australia of the potential height of modern skyscrapers and we’re excited to be a part of the building’s future journey,” he said.

Bates Smart, the original architects of ICI House, designed Hub’s new premium co-working space with Palm Spring-like influences and to take advantage of the views across Treasury gardens, the CBD and to the Dandenong ranges.

The work-zone spine runs centrally through each floor, with all private offices positioned on the building perimeter, close to natural light with outward facing views. There’s a business lounge on the top floor, offices for up to 14 people, private offices, open plan dedicated and flexible desks, break out areas, high-tech meeting and event spaces. Add a café, serviced meeting rooms, member kitchen and lounge, fitness space, end-of-trip facilities with towel service, parent and wellness rooms, plus a media studio with podcasting  and Virtual Reality gear and you’re set for anything.
