Sydney Landing Pad welcomes first participants

- April 7, 2019 2 MIN READ

Haymarket HQ, Australia’s only Asia innovation hub, is set to welcome eight high-growth technology companies from across Asia-Pacific as the first cohort of the City of Sydney’s new global landing pad program.

The companies have a combined value north of $130 million and hail from countries including Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India and New Zealand.

The Sydney Landing Pad is the City of Sydney’s program aimed at attracting savvy tech firms from across the world to explore Australia as a potential market for expansion. It’s hoped the program will draw millions of dollars in business investment to the city.

The eight companies, which include Taiwan’s Insto and Omnylitics of Malaysia, are involved in industries as diverse as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, big data and fashion analytics.

Haymarket HQ will provide the companies with support services, office space and networking opportunities.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore described the program as a key part of the city’s work to support international investment into Sydney’s economy.

“We’re proud to support Haymarket HQ in developing their international landing pad program, which will provide support for entrepreneurs from Asia to understand and grow in Sydney,” the Lord Mayor said.

“This is a great opportunity for Sydney to welcome more entrepreneurs, introduce investors to our thriving local economy and promote international collaboration.”

The initiative is set to bolster Sydney’s reputation as a magnet for Asian investment and a centre for global technology innovation.

The first cohort of the Sydney Landing Pad include:

  • Fox-Tech (Taiwan) — an IoT solution maker for agriculture, farming, cold chain, and manufacturing that allows business owners to monitor humidity and temperature wirelessly.
  • Ambit-Ai (New Zealand) — a conversation platform enabling enterprises to communicate with customers and staff en masse.
  • Eazitrip (Australia/China) — a travel app helping tourists to discover and explore local authentic experiences through the power of Augmented Reality.
  • Insto (Taiwan) — the world’s first person-to-person payment platform that allows buyers and sellers to schedule payments over time.
  • Omnylitics (Malaysia) — a fashion and beauty data analytics company that helps retailers make informed business decisions.
  • Clean Mobility (Singapore) — a developer of urban mobility solutions such as on-demand car-sharing services.
  • AiSensum (India) — an artificial intelligence and big data analytics company that generates insights and solutions for enterprises and startups.
