The City of Sydney is set to launch a new office space and support service for international companies and entrepreneurs from Asia and China looking to do business in Sydney.

The Global Sydney Landing Pad Program will be developed and coordinated by Haymarket HQ, Australia’s only Asia-focused innovation hub, supporting businesses looking to expand and invest into Sydney.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore described the program as a key part of the City’s work to support international investment into Sydney’s economy.

The initiative will be funded by the City’s grants program, to the tune of $40K per year for the next three years, making it a significant investment for the city.

“We’re proud to support Haymarket HQ in developing their international landing pad program, which will provide support for entrepreneurs from Asia to understand and grow in Sydney,” the Lord Mayor said.

“This is a great opportunity for Sydney to welcome more entrepreneurs, introduce investors to our thriving local economy and promote international collaboration.”

Haymarket HQ founder and Banna Property Group CEO, Brad Chan said the initiative would attract entrepreneurial talent and new sources of funding to Australia. He hope to also work close with universities to attract international students to the venture.

“Our new program is designed to support high-growth international small-to-medium-sized businesses to establish and grow their presence in the Australian market by using Sydney as their base,” Chan said.

“We’ll also work closely with universities to encourage international students to create new ventures in Sydney that will further strengthen our networks, particularly in Asia. This program taps into Sydney’s reputation for offering both strong lifestyle options and innovative business opportunities,” Chan said.
