Kóala take out the top spot at the Braintree Top 50 Ecommerce List launch party

- November 18, 2016 < 1 MIN READ

Last week Startup Daily in collaboration with payments company Braintree held a fancy little party at city venue The Carousel by X Studio. The intimate gathering was a special announcement of the recently published Top 50 Ecommerce List that recognised some of Australia’s biggest movers and shakers across a variety of sectors whose ventures all have a core focus of selling product via an online or mobile platform.

The final list of 50 was chosen by the Startup Daily and Braintree teams using a variety of metrics that included looking at data from the Startup Daily Insights tool, startup rating tool Oddup, social media traction, industry positioning and how they measure up from a marketing perspective against competitors in their space.

From the list of 50 chosen the overall winner was online mattress company Kóala. The company has grown significantly in the last 12 months in an environment where it has had at least four other brands directly copy the companies marketing IP – namely a video of a man jumping onto one of the mattresses that has a glass of wine sitting on top to demonstrate the even shock absorption technology of the product.

Cofounder Dany Milham told Startup Daily due to the copy cat behaviours of many of the competing brands the company is up against it has spurred the team to plan some ‘new and exciting’ changes to the overall brand in 2017.

Our full Top 50 List can be viewed below. You can also check it via a slideshow here. Please note aside from Kóala there is no significance regarding order or ranking.
