Applications open for River City Labs’ investor pitch event RiverPitch

Applications are now open for startups to enter River City Labs’ investor pitch event RiverPitch. The bi-annual event is celebrating its 9th edition and expects the number of participants to triple in size from last year.

River City Labs general manager Josh Anthony said, “We’ve seen a tremendous uplift in interest for RiverPitch from startups and investors all over the country.

“This is a clear testament that RiverPitch plays a pivotal role in supporting the startup ecosystem both in Queensland and now at a national level.”

To be held on May 25 at River City Labs, RiverPitch encourages early stage startups from all over Australia to pitch their innovative ideas at a panel of prequalified investors.

Since 2012 RiverPitch has been an initiative of River City Labs to cater to the needs of investors who want to see pre-screened pitches and engage with fund-seeking entrepreneurs.

Successful candidates whose pitches announce investment ready ideas could receive up to $1.5 million in funding to help take their ideas off the ground.

Startups will have the opportunity to pitch to high-profile investors including Steve Baxter.

Baxter, who is also a founder of River City Labs has said in the past that RiverPitch is solely focused on bringing together investors and startups, without dictating how a single investment gets done.

“Following the event, meetups between both parties are organised bilaterally, attesting to RiverPitch’s flexible and yet proven approach to investment,” he said.

In previous years RiverPitch has been responsible for connecting some now highly successful startups to investors. Tanda, Grapple and CohortPay are just a few notable startups who pitched their ideas at the event and have gone on to receive national success.

Anthony says RiverPitch supports Queensland’s startup community by providing a different approach to capital funding and de-formalising the search for the next investment.

“RiverPitch serves as an ideal platform for Australia’s startup stars of tomorrow,” he said.

Applications close on April 29. Startups can apply to pitch here.
