Brisbane coworking space River City Labs is calling for startups Australia-wide to apply to pitch at its RiverPitch investment event.

To be held on June 19, the event will give seven startups the chance to pitch to high-profile, active investors like Micheal Dempsey and Steve Baxter.

Peta Ellis, general manager of River City Labs said, “RiverPitch is truly changing how investing is being done in Brisbane. Its unique format offers a different approach to capital funding, bringing together investors and startups in an informal, social setting.”

Baxter, founder of River City Labs and RiverPitch, added, “RiverPitch is different to Angel group setups as it is solely focused on bringing together investors and startups, without dictating how a single investment gets done. Following the event, meet-ups between both parties are organised bilaterally, attesting to RiverPitch’s flexible and yet proven approach to investment.”

The event was founded in 2012, aiming to unite together the venture capital community in Queensland and have them actively invest in tech startups.

The startups are selected by a panel at River City Labs, while investors are also screened. Startups who have pitched at previous events include Tanda, Grapple, and CohortPay.
