Award-winning enterprise technology consultancy, Sakura Sky Media, has today announced the opening of its first Lab to foster entrepreneurship and innovation in the media and entertainment tech sector.

CTO of the Sydney-based company, Andrew Stevens said that Sakura Sky Innovation Lab aims to fill what they believe to be a ‘lacking media and entertainment focused facility’ in Australia.

“Our Innovation Lab will aim to create new businesses through a mix of co-working spaces, funding assistance, technical services, mentoring, feedback and support. It will foster commercially-sustainable activities and encourage deep interactions among both aspiring and experienced entrepreneurs across the Australian landscape,” he said.

Sakura Sky will fund and develop the Lab using its experience gained working with clients including Fairfax Media, Sony Music Australia and Val Morgan.

“We hope this Lab will make a real difference to Australian Research and Development efforts. We want our participants to stand out, and our goal is to drive innovation by connecting entrepreneurial innovators nationally and internationally, in an interdisciplinary approach to create viable businesses,” said Stevens.

Applications will open in January 2015.
