San Francisco-headquartered crowdfunding platform Indiegogo has today announced the launch of Indiegogo Life, a personal fundraising platform that enables people to raise money for emergencies, medical expenses, celebrations or other life events, without paying any fees to Indiegogo.

Since launching in 2008 as an open crowdfunding platform, Indiegogo has experienced triple-digit growth in the personal cause category, inspiring the company to create a separate platform focused solely on life events.

Examples of personal cause campaigns on Indiegogo that have made headlines include the world’s first crowdfunded babyJohn Jennings’ cancer battle, and bullied bus monitor Karen Klein.

“Over the last six years, we’ve witnessed the financial implications that are often associated with the biggest challenges and milestones in people’s lives,” said Danae Ringelmann, Chief Development Officer of Indiegogo.

“With Indiegogo Life, we’re delivering the necessary tools for families, friends, and even complete strangers around the world, to connect and support one another at the most critical times.”

Indiegogo Life’s perks include fast campaign setup requiring eight steps, access to one-on-one personalised support from Indiegogo’s Customer Happiness team, community-building tools and resources to help people reach wider networks, and zero platform fees for people raising money for medical needs, emergencies, celebrations, memorials, pets and animals, faith, sports, volunteer efforts and education.
