Following healthy growth in Australia, Eventbrite, the San Francisco-headquartered global ticketing platform and events marketplace, has appointed Rachael Neumann as the nation’s Managing Director.
The growth of the company has accelerated this year after it ramped up its marketing efforts locally and opened up its first APAC office in Melbourne. The company is on track to exceeding 6 million cumulative tickets processed on its platform by the end of 2014.
Today, Australia represents approximately 5 percent of total global gross ticket sales, and ticket volumes continue to reflect high, double-digit growth rates in the country. Over 25 percent of the total tickets processed in Australia have been processed in the first six months of this year; and among the 100,000 Australian events on Eventbrite’s platform is Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the Biennale of Sydney, Next Wave Festival, TEDxMelbourne, Pause Festival and EQUITANA Melbourne.
Appointing Neumann as Eventbrite’s Managing Director of Australia is part of the company’s plans to expand its team and continue in its uphill growth in the country. Neumann, who was Eventbrite’s Director of Customer Experience Strategy prior to the recent appointment, will be responsible for leading and building the company’s local team while maintaining the award-winning culture of Eventbrite’s US headquarters, and capitalising on the growth that Eventbrite has seen in the Australian market.
“Rachael’s understanding of Eventbrite’s vision and customer-centric approach, coupled with her deep understanding of the Australian market, will put her in good stead to drive and develop our Australian strategy,” Kevin Hartz, co-founder and CEO of Eventbrite, said in a media release.
“Eventbrite is about leveraging technology to bring people together through live experiences, and we believe Rachael’s local ties to the market and her experience with Eventbrite makes her a natural fit to take our presence to the next level in a very important market.”
Neumann, who held the role of Case Team Leader with Bain and Company prior to joining Eventbrite, said she was excited to take on the challenges that come alongside her new role: “I have loved working with Eventbrite in the US and truly believe in its mission to democratise ticketing by offering innovative, robust and intuitive tools for event organisers. To be able to come home and lead and grow the Australian business is a great privilege.”

Eventbrite has also appointed Laura Huddle as its Head of Marketing for Australia and Damien Munro as Senior Business Development Manager.
