Global IT&T recruitment company, Talent International, has teamed up with Founder of Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson, and Co-Founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, in their search to find 2014’s biggest technology superstars for the Talent Unleashed Awards.
Talent International have announced their mission to invigorate Australia’s technology sector by recognising the individuals who are making a positive impact in our business and general community.
According to a new media release, the company has been disappointed “at the absence of a meaningful Australian technology sector and now the softening of the mining boom and the demise of many household names in the manufacturing sector”.
“When we look to the Australian technology sector we’re concerned that there is insufficient interest and activity at a grass roots level in terms of innovation, ideas and technology startups. This is especially apparent in Australia but also across the broader APAC region and the Talent Unleashed Awards will address this,” said Founder and Managing Director of Talent International, Richard Earl, in the media release.
While many would differ in the argument that our technology sector is suffering a deficit, they would agree that Australia’s technologists deserve greater recognition**.
According to Earl, “It’s time to actively promote individuals who are making a positive impact in the technology sector not only in Australia but across the globe.”
The 2014 judging panel for the Talent Unleashed Awards is sure to wow:
- Sir Richard Branson, Founder, Virgin Group
- Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder, Apple
- Cliff Rosenberg, Managing Director, LinkedIn
- Joel Neoh, Head of Groupon Asia Pacific and Founder of Youth in Asia
- Patrick Grove, Co-Founder and CEO, Catcha Group
Speaking about the lineup of judges, Earl said he’s “thrilled to have some of the world’s leading business minds on board this year”.
“It’s great to have Sir Richard Branson for the second year in a row, highlighting our passion to reward excellence in technology and Steve Wozniak is a perfect complement for Sir Richard together they represent the face of innovation, technology, and entrepreneurialism at its very best.”
Branson expressed that he enjoyed being involved in the Talent Unleashed Awards in Sydney last year and is looking forward to working with Talent International again.
“We must encourage more talented individuals to take up careers in these fields and help drive innovation, invention and more efficiency across many sectors,” Branson said in the media release.
Adding to last year’s Community Impact Award, the 2014 Talent Unleashed Awards Program has added four new categories including: Rising Star, Leadership, Best Startup, and Digital Content.
Regional winners will be selected and travel to Sydney, Australia for the APAC Awards Ceremony where five category winners will be selected in addition to a People’s Choice Award winner.
Talent International will also reward the six total category winners with a five-day business innovation workshop at the Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship in South Africa.
