On the 24th of February, Startup Grind will be featuring Andre Eikmeier, who started a community site for wine lovers, and then went on to launch wine subscription company, Vinomofo in 2011 with Justin Dry and Leigh Morgan. Their philosophy is to “keep it real” without all the bow ties and other fancy bullshit often associated with wine.
In early 2012, Vinomofo sold 25 percent of the company to The Catch Group; and in July 2013, with the help of a consortium of private investors, the original founders bought back the company. Vinomofo grew to over 300,000 subscribers and is now doing pop up shops in Melbourne to meet new customers.
In November 2013, Vinomofo took out the top spot in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia 2013 awards, making it the fastest growing technology company in Australia based on percentage revenue growth during a three year period (2011 to 2013).
But before Vinomofo, Eikmeier was an actor. He started acting at the age of 9 on A Country Practice and starred in Pacific Drive. He also did a commercial with Kylie Minogue for Coca-Cola.
Startup Grind is excited to have him speak at the event about what goes on behind the scenes.
