Coworking spaces are the new cool thing to have in 2013, as startups look for better ways to minimise their startup costs as well as utilise the power of collaboration that communities of startups under the one roof provide. And soon adding to there already successful Melbourne network is The Hub Sydney.
HUB Sydney is a coworking community that offers a diverse professional network, social and earning events, and innovative work and event space. It will open its coworking and innovation clubhouse in Darlinghurst this May.
“First and foremost, HUB Sydney is a community and we’re already seeing that take shape,” shares Caroline McLaren, HUB Australia Activator. HUB Sydney Cowork in the Park was hosted in Wynyard Park in February and attracted hundreds of freelancers, entrepreneurs and innovators. The Lord Mayor and local MP Alex Greenwich also visited to share their vision for the digital economy and the role of coworking.
Coworking has taken off as a global phenomenon over the past few years and continues to grow thanks to emerging business technologies and the increasingly transient nature of the workforce. It challenges the traditional notion of offices spaces by creating shared
collaborative workspaces that are used by various independent individuals.
HUB is a global network of over 35 coworking communities – from Singapore to San Francisco to Sao Paulo – that focuses on its wider impact. Hub Melbourne celebrates its 2nd birthday next week and has grown to a thriving community of over 750 members from 50 different disciplines. Members range from new businesses like Pozible through to Pete Williams, CEO of Deloitte Digital as well as university professors and not-for-profits
