The Task Economy [Meetup]

- March 18, 2013 < 1 MIN READ

Can you think of a task you don’t like?  Moving house, cleaning, data entry, letterbox drop…  We wished there was someone else to do it. Enter the task economy.

The task economy is a popular segment of collaborative consumption in Australia. The recent acquisition of Taskbox by Airtasker made headlines this month so we wanted to find out the latest in the task economy.

The task economy is comprised of task-based service communities, which connect online. Jump online, and be matched with capable people who want to do the tasks you hate. Your tasks get done and local people make money. It’s a win-win!

In Sydney, popular communities are TaskRunners.com and Airtasker.com.  Our MeetUp is introducing the leaders of this space. Join Cheryl of Task Runners and Tim of Airtasker, as they tell us what’s happening in this exciting space in here and overseas.

We’ll have the chance to ask them questions and network at the end. Our attendees either work in this space or care about collaborative consumption, so we love having a chat with the attendees.

We have a cool new space: Tank Stream Labs; When we visited, we loved this community in Sydney CBD. They already have a few collaborative consumption based start ups co-working here so we feel very much at home.
