The Media Moguls

Oscar Martin and Chris Wirasinha are fast becoming two of the most influential figures in  the Australian media landscape. Their meeting at digital agency Universal Maccan almost 10 years ago now, back in their early twenties instigated plans for the pair to write and produce their own television show. As the idea pivoted and research was done around the subject, they decided to do something that back in the early 2000’s was a pretty new concept – produce a free DVD magazine.

Strength in the advertising field and knowing digital buying back to front was of great assistance to the pair who, went on to produce many different issues of the DVD Mag, and in 2008 developed this model into what is now today one of Australia’s biggest online youth brands PedestrianTV.

When it comes to content creation bringing the whole operation into the online world meant daily creation of content and in the beginning the pair recall pulling all nighters to insure that their growing readership always got what they were looking for each and every day. Eight years on they have a growing team of almost twenty staff and as they put it, have been able to employ much more talented writers than themselves. Expansion are next on the list with the Pedestrian.tv being joined by new focus areas Pedestrian Sport and Pedestrian Travel.

The secret to their success is they focus on what they love and what they are passionate about, fashion, culture, the arts, television, sport and travel – they live and breath it all; seriously these two guys are some of the snappiest dressers I have ever encountered.

The accolades are coming in thick and fast now days and the last 8 years are paying off, the pair were named on the BRW Fast Starters list this year and somehow given their growth and consistant profitable model they have created for their business, i think we will be seeing their name around the traps a lot more frequently over the next 12 months.
