The success of every company lies in its customer base. It may sound obvious, but so often marketing and customer acquisition can be the first area where budgets and resources are slashed. This half day workshop will take students through the paces of prioritising customer engagement and retention. Students will go through the process used to find, acquire and retain customers as well as learn how to experiment to optimise their strategy along the way.

The content is geared towards online products and services, however digital marketing is essential for every member of a young consumer-oriented web startup as well as anyone from a larger organisation looking to foster the next step their company’s user growth.

You will leave the workshop with actionable insights to implement into your business immediately, no matter what stage of you are at.

1:00 – 2:00   Digital marketing and user acquisition – Key Terms and Concepts

2:00 – 3: 00  Metrics, landing pages and targeting

3:00 – 4:00   Campaign creation tools: SEO, SEM, Social

4:00 – 4:15    Coffee Break

4:15 – 5:30    Growth Hacking and un-paid user acquisition
Students should have an understanding of the digital marketing space, however there are no technical requirements.

Students will learn: 

  • Tactics to obtain and retain users
  • How to track user activity
  • Tools to create and run campaigns
  • How to use identify issues in their user funnel, experiment and optimise

About The Instructors:

Riley Batchelor has been working in digital marketing for the last 12 years. He started his career in marketing at a B2B direct marketing catalogue company. For the past 8 years he has been founder of 2threads.com, Australians premier independent fashion community that now reaches over 1 million unique visitors a year (*Neilsen MI). In 2009 he launched Australia’s first fashion flash sales website, Estile.com, grew membership to 20,000 subscribers and sold the business within 12 months. He has been practicing growth hacking, data driven SEO, social media, content marketing and online advertising techniques for the last 12 years.

Adam Trouncer is a serial entrepreneur and business strategist. Adam works as an adviser and consultant to startups including Smartsalary where he helped to launch autogenie.com.au, an on-line car sourcing website. Adam is also a founder of premiumanimations.com and is currently completing the last year of his PhD in structural engineering.
