Chillwithme an Australian-based start-up has just launched in the App store which aims to help groups of friends organise hangouts by suggesting, voting and locking down details keeping everyone on the ‘same page’.
The app merges social media and mobile technology, reviews of restaurants, location data helping make the process of catching up with friends easy. The app has voting functionality to facilitate social recommendations while ensuring everyone has a their voice heard.
Speaking about his inspiration for the app, Founder & CEO Jimmy Lee explains “We would try and organise dinner with friends and there were always long email trails and sms messages trying to decided where and when we should meet up- we figured there was a better way.”
Chillwith.me taps into the social graph of a user as they login via Facebook and they can then choose which friends to invite to ‘hangout’. Invitees can then suggest and vote on times, dates and venues, tapping into existing reviews and photos from Foursquare as well as store and location data from Google.
When the organiser has taken into consideration the opinions of invitees they can then ‘lock down’ the details and all the invitees can sync the event to the calendar on their phone.
“We believe the key to a successful app is that it needs to fit into current social behaviour and help make people’s lives easier- users are already using the app to organise a variety of hangouts from causal coffee catch ups at cafes, friday night drinks at a city hot spot and even birthday parties.” says Lee.
The app pulls in data from wherever you are and is already being used in over 10 countries as aggregates existing data from the social sphere. “It’s pretty exciting being able to release a product and receive feedback from people around the globe. We have huge plans for this app and the current version is only the beginning.” say Lee.
Chillwith.me will be launched on Android early 2013, in the meantime the App is available for free download on the App store.
